holidaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaays

Last post of the year!!! WOW this year has gone by soooo quickly. Now I have to tell you what I am doing in the holidays, but to be honest, I don't really know. what I do know is that I am going the Australian open in Melbourne. I am really excited because I always wanted to go to Wimbledon but we couldn't get tickets so now I finally get to go to a grand slam.

I also think my parents said we are going to Ki koura to see some whales, dolphins and seals. But, Outside of our trips I am very excited about sleeping in and not doing work because I think there should not be work at school let alone at home. I am also excited about my best friend Olivia's birthday party down at the waterfront.

highlights of the year

This year has been reeally exciting. It wa smy first FULL year at St. Benedicts and it has been really fun. One of my favourite parts of the year was retreat. this happend on tuesday and it was great just hang out with all of my school friends out side of school. The best thing about the shool retreat wa s that I learnt alot more about leadership and i now know that being a leader isnt just getting house captin. (although, still vote fo me.) Another highlight was E.O.T.C week which i wrote about on another post. That was another thing that was only year sevens.

Overall It has been a very exciting year and I cant wait for the next one (especially camp)  

being year 8

I am really excited about being year 8 next year. I have only been top of the school once before and that was only for 6 weeks. I am most excited about all the jobs that are up for offer. The jobs are...
-house captain
-catholic character
-milk monitor
-road patrol (which I already do)
-library
-and first aid


I am also excited for the old year 8's to leave because although they are nice, they make so much drama out of everything. like right now to of them are fighting over trying to get a piece of paper out of the printer.


I am not looking forward to new year sevens coming in though. only because at the Otago problem solving all those year six's that did it got double the score that I did.


Anyway I am really excited about being a year 8.

speeches

this week we did speeches and my speech was all about furbys. some of the things I said my speech where...

-furbys where 1st introduced in 1998
-they where created by David Hampton Caleb Chung
-there are three different types of furbys the our normal furby, the furby boom and the old furby.
-you can feed, cuddle, stroke and even pull the furbys tale
-I want another furby for Christmas

I feel like I started my speech of really well but half way through I completely forgot my speech. At the time I was upset but it doesn't really matter anymore because at least I tried. I didn't really think I was going to get through anyway so at least this year at the school speech competition I can just relax instead of freak out about my own speech.

books

One of the books I have recently read is Jacky day dreamer. It is a biography all about Jacqueline Wilson's childhood. The only reason I started to read it was because it was on the class book shelf and I had nothing to read. It was much more interesting than I thought it was going to be because I thought it would just be this old writer talking about going to her grandparents at the weekend.



My favourite chapter is called Fat Pat. It is about this girl who used to be in Jacqueline's class at school. she was really beautiful but people called her names like fat pat. One day she said to Jacqueline its not my fault that I am fat. She started talk to pat after that.
One day after the holidays Pat wasn't at school. She said her desk was gone and she wasn't on the roll. then in assembly they announced that Pat passed away in the holidays. It is a really sad chapter and that's is coming from the girl who eat sleeps and breathes twilight.


Overall its a really good book and I recommend it for you. xx Imy out xx

speech competiton

This term is the speech competition and my topic is furbys. I am really nervous because I am worried my speech isn't going to be as good as last year, because come on, who doesn't love to hear a girl embarrassing her older sister (by the way I should of put copy right on singing in the shower with my chiwawa). last year I got first place and I could of feel like people are expecting a good speech.

I am really excited about my  topic because them already know everything about them. That's right I am doing furbys! it is really easy for me because I already know what they are, the different types, what they can do, and I am also really good at persuasive writing as I have been doing it since I was in like year two.

spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace

For the past few weeks we have been working learning about space, ish! The ish part comes from when we were learning the solar system and our teacher didn't  know the order of the planets. To be fair I didn't know it ever but that lesson I ended up learning the planets from the kids.

My favourite thing we actually learnt in English. It was a speech about a Canadian guy who went up to space and while he was up there he lost his sight. Since we started the topic I have learnt alo0ot more about stuff like, constellations, galaxy' s and even stuff I dint know about earth.

Spring fair

I can't wait for the spring fair  this weekend. I am especially exited because my best friend Olivia is dancing and I haven't seen her do ballet before. I am helping out at the kids zone doing face paint and nails (even though I won't be doing nails) and I am also coming early to help set up. I am happy to be helping because I have never helped out at one of these kind of things and I am excited to sort of learn from the experience.

Today In class we where making lolly necklaces and signs for the fair and it's just making me so excited. Any way that's all from me so Imy out xx

how the production went

This years production went great.I was one of the main characters and I loved it. I played agent My favourite part was probably the final scene because I got to hear Sam V's rap for the last time.

I loved hearing the crowds reactions to everything we said because it made me feel really good. I don't really know what my performance was like because I don't really like watching myself back and I just look awkward but I know everybody else on my night was amazing. I am not saying Thursday night wasn't its just I wasn't here to watch there casts video.

next time I think there should be less quick mike changes because all my mike changes were quick and it kept holding all my scenes up. I also think they should of had a better dressing room choices. This is because in the 2 girls dressing rooms there were 16 in each dressing room but dressing room 1 was HUGE and dressing room to was tiny so I think they should next year put more in 1 and less in 2. any way thanks for reading.

so tomorrow is the school production and cant wait. I am in 2 dances take a chance on me and tainted love although I only get to do tainted love on one performance. This is because I play one of the main characters and because there are so many people who wanted a lead in the play we have different people playing the same parts  on the different nights.

I share my part with Olivia and its kind of annoying on the second night because all I get to do is spin on a wheelie chair and spend the rest of the night in a dressing room.

anyway a part from that I am really excited. my favourite scene in the production is probably the trading post because I love room nines dance but if I had to pick a scene that I am in it would probably be the Jutonian refuge scene because I get to lots of acting in it and laugh at Sam V (the person who plays argon on my night)

in class this term we have these reading challenges they are...

10 book challenge-you have to read ten books, 20 book challenge-you have to read twenty books, random challenge-you randomly pick a book of a shelf, series challenge-read the first book of the series, classic challenge-read a book from the classics list in our reading logs, space challenge-read a space book and family challenge-I cant remember this one.

this term i am going to try and get the ten book challenge, the random challenge, the series challenge (diary of a wimpy kid works every time,) and the family challenge once i find out what it is.

i am sorry this post is late i stupidly thought i had done it and went out to reward time and i had except i forgot to click post. so i got back from Queens town this evening and fond this post on my computer. anyway sorry about that Imy out xx

Netbaaaaaaaaall

At home (and school) I love to play netball. My favourite part of the game is the fact that there are so many rules because the other team has the ball and all of a sudden its yours because they were stepping. one of the things I don't like is when somebody takes my place though. My position is quite popular as well but luckily ( being goal attack ) Grace and I are the only shooters in our team.

Netball has been really exciting lately as well because we are getting better and are getting used to working as a team. we also have our own team cheer.

I love netball especially as you get to improve every week and show your team all the skills that you've learnt. I extremely love netball and I really think if you are taking up a sport you should give it a go. that's all for now so Imy out xxx

Produuuuuuuuuuuction

For the production I have the part of  Agent Jameson and I am really excited. I have 23 lines and i am in 2 dances but i not know how many scenes i am in. wait ... should i count that swell or would that seem a bit to obsessed. But i guess if i count the scenes then i will have to count the apron scenes so it will all get to confussing (just like the chair dance.) The two dances I am in are tainted love ( one night) and the chair dance take a chance on me. the dances are so much fun especially take a chance on me because its so cheesy. The other day i was laughing so hard in rehearsal that i started crying (ah good times).

My favourite part of the production so far is definitely making up the dances. But the annoying thing is that it went into school time. And I thought i would never hear myself say that but it means now i have got so much maths now on top of my a million and one tasks to do. It is all to stressful to me and i can't wait to get further into the production stuff so we have less tasks.

Overall the production stuff is going really well and i can't wait.

Recently in class we have been doing lots of art. Se normally If you found art on your ask sheet you would be really excited but I just find it annoying as it takes up a lot of time and i am really bad at it. I also have O.C.D so i get really mad if everything is not PERFECT. It is kind of nice though when you have finished a piece of art because you have this nice,  happy,  relieved feeling inside of you. 

Another thing I get frustrated at is drawing straight lines with ruler. they are so annoying as you can never ever get it right. well when is say you i kind of meant me but id not like to point thinkers because it make me feel singled out. anyway back to the art work my favourite piece is this...

Walk like an Egyptian .... if you can

In class for the last few weeks we have been doing ancient Egypt and although I already knew a lot it has been really interesting. The best thing about it was that we got to make min craft villages as I had never done mine craft before and it was a great experience learning how to use it.

We also had to make Egyptian topic pages and mine was about Tutankhamen. Here are a few things I mention in it..

-Tutankhamen was none as the boy king as he ruled when he was only 9 and died when he was 18.
-He married a young girl Ankhesenamun who did not have kids but miss carried twice.
-Tutankhamen was also known as King Tut
-He was never a succesful king but we know him because of his tomb found by some archeologists.

We then had to go into groups that had related topics to our pages and make power points and activities related to it. I was in a group with Sharon, Sam V and Aimee. Our activity was who wants to be an Egyptianair. Of course they didn't win money but they did get Lollies.

One group did this thing where we get into groups and we have to mummyfy someone with toilet  paper and next door they did pharaohs so we had a cat walk but the mummies of course couldn't walk so it was very funny.

nairnville

for the past few weeks at nairnville we have been doing gymnastics and to be honest it has been really,  really boring. I already do gymnastics at Onslow so I can do all the stuff and half of it is so bad it doesn't feel like gymnastics. I didn't really like the teachers circuit because all it was,was climbing up ladders and sliding down slides. I did however like jumping on the trampoline but I wish we could of done flips.

What i have learnt.

Sometimes I find I might of learnt more, less, or different stuff to what other people in my class have learnt. And I know that probably no one else will be talking about what they learnt in A.L.M ( accelerated learning maths.... I think.) Recently we have been working on the best ways to solve subtraction problems like equal addition and number lines but sometimes I'm just so tired I zone out.

Its kind of interesting though because I get more help than most others do on my maths and I learn things that others don't.

Joey piggza swallowed the Key

So for our tasks we have to write about our book groups and i really can not think of much to say apart from i like to have chips during class time. The book we our reading is Joey Piggza swallowed the key. to be honest, it was the only book i was interested in as all the the others were to grown up for me. I feel like the older i get the more childish my reading gets which i don't think is meant to happen. My favourite books are the diary of a wimpy kid ones and everybody else's our like the hunger games. The thing thats annoying about book group is that it is so easy to get of subject like i just did then. One minute your talking about the book and the next your talking about your plans for the weekend.  

Some times its your group that lets you down so your not allowed crackers or chips. People often forget to bring there books or don't fill in there book group discussion notes but I'm not going to mention there names because it might make the feel bad ( COF COF me COF COF.) Some times you have to be considerate about where you read up to as like some people might have something on so they can't read 5 chapters in 2 days.

possum goes to school

When i think of my favourite book when i was younger i instantly say my naughty little sister but i never think of the other books i loved. Theres a book i used to love and i read it nearly everyday with my best friend Ellie. It's called called possum goes to school by Melanie Carter. I loved it. 

One day a possum goes to school and gets into trouble the Kids scream the the parents all scream and its all a bundle of chaos. I used to love the book because of all the rhyming words. I remember Ellie and i fort over this one book because she said it was hers and i said it was mine. it was MINE (she started it.) Anyway its a great book and i recommend you read it and i hope you like it as much as i do.

In the holidays i went on a road trip. I went to ...

- Hobbiton

It was really cool because you got to go all other the set and find out how the filmed the movie. They made the holes Tiny and then they got kids to turn there backs instead of the actual actors doing it. They even let a four year old in.

- Bay of islands

The Bay of Islands was really pretty. It was boiling hot and I got to go to Waitangi and see were the treaty was signed. I went in the sea every single day and it was freezing cold.

I also went to Russell and I had a really good stack of pancakes with maple syrup and bacon.

- Auckland

NORMALLY WHEN YOU GO TO Auckland you go to see al the pretty stuff like mountains and stuff. but we just went shopping. I found this massive smiggle store and I bought this awesome alarm clock that has really cool alarms, it tells you the temperature outside and it shines the time on the wall. While I was in Auckland I also went to a really cool restaurant and we liked it so much we went there the next night again. I found a really cool present for Jessica Reid and I would tell you it but Jessica reads my blog. .

- And mount Taranaki

On our last stop we went to Mount Taranaki. of course I HATE walking so we didn't actually climb it. we just stayed in a really nice hotel next to it. :)

mission fair

so for the mission fair I was in a group with Olivia, Veronica, Sylvia and Jessica. Everybody raised like $200 and we only raised $58. It was because our prizes were to low and at the end Veronica started giving stuff for free. Next year I will make sure my prices are lower.

AT HOME I...

At home I ....
 
do gymnastics on the couch, do gymnastics on the carpet, do gymnastics against the wall, do gymnastics against the pictures on the wall, nock down the pictures on the wall and get into trouble. Then I do it all again the next day. The thing about me is that no house will ever be big another for the energetic Imogen Rice. I am like a bundle of energy spreading and spreading my happiness all around the world (literally).
 
I also practise netball play tennis and do anything I can to annoy my sister ( she started it she was born first.)

Stats

This week we did our basic facts test 4 the second time and I improved my score. BIG TIME. the first time I had no idea what I was doing and I only got 20% but this time after learning

and loads of other stuff I got 80% That's 50% difference ( probably.)

E.O.T.C FUN

So we just had E.O.T.C week and it was so much fun.I most liked camp Kaitoki because we had so much to do there. I least liked monday because all we did was go to Nairnville but it doesn't mean I didn't have fun. If I could do any of them again it would be Capital E because I would like to try something different out like presenters or a back stage job like director. All in all E.O.T.C week was so fun and I can't wait to see what the year 8s got up to on their trip away.

Swimming

For swimming this term I am doing water safety and so far it has been quite boring. I find a bit to easy as I am already a confident and strong swimmer. I also find it easy because I have done water safety 3 times before plus additional learning on holiday in Greece, Turkey and Tenerife so I kind of know it all already. The stuff we do is boring as well we just float on our backs and get freezing cold!

E.O.T.C week

So E.O.T.C week is coming up and I am so excited. People will stop talking about year six camp which I missed) and finally step into what's happening now.

I am really looking forward to kayaking in camp kaitoki and least looking forward to climbing mount kau kau ( I HATE walking). 

For the on TV thing I have to be the weather presenter and they have given me these lines that are meant to be funny but they really are not. But that's it for now so good by

Hi I am Imogen, I go to St Benedict's school and I love all things CUTE! E.G: Olaf the snowman, kittens, teddy bears and minions! Another thing you should know is that I hate walking. my hobbies are gymnastics, tennis and netball. That girl on the side is me!
